The natural choice for the root TDS directory on the Amiga is `TeXMF:', either the name of a hard disk partition or an assignment to a specific location on your disk. In addition to Kpathsea's `//' notation you may start recursive path search with `DEVICE:/', e.g., `TeXMF:/'.
Binaries coming with the AmiWeb2C distribution are assumed to be installed in the TDS hierarchy at `TeXMF:bin/web2c/' to distinguish them from DVI drivers from other sources. (For example, PasTeX's ShowDVI and DVIprint drivers should be installed at `TeXMF:bin/pastex/'. The respective configuration files can be placed in `TeXMF:pastex/config/' and the assignment `TeX:' should point to `TeXMF:pastex/'.)
All implementation-dependent TeX system files are stored in `TeXMF:web2c/' extending the form used by Web2c 7.0:
TeXMF: TDS root (also `ls-R' and `MakeTeXls-R') web2c/ configuration file `texmf.cnf' bases/ METAFONT bases, separated by name, e.g., plain/ the "plain" base formats/ TeX formats, separated by name, e.g., e-plain/ the plain format for "extended TeX" latex/ the LaTeX format plain/ the plain TeX format mems/ MetaPost memory files, separated by name, e.g., mfplain/ the "plain mem" extended for METAFONT input plain/ the "plain" memory file pool/ pool files for TeX, METAFONT, and MetaPost rexx/ `MakeMPX.rexx', `CallMF'
Documentation files in AmigaGuide format should be stored at `TeXMF:doc/guide/' similar to `TeXMF:doc/info/'.
