TeX Live - bugs and updates
Please email further bug reports or other comments to tex-live@tug.org. See the TeX Live home page for general information and links.
- Windows support packages need some updates: see the
fpTeX upgrade page.
(Although TeX works in the distributed version, some of the support
packages had problems.)
- CJK support was broken, due to missing files.
The fixed
distributions are available, thanks to Werner Lemberg. See the
README file in that directory for detailed instructions.
- GF-related executables under sparc-solaris (namely mf,
mf-nowin, gftopk, pktogf) get fatal errors due to a bug in the
particular gcc version (since fixed) used on that platform. Replacement binaries are available (compiled
with gcc 2.95.3 on sparc-solaris2.7), thanks to Maksym Polyakov.
- bibtex8 on all platforms fails to find .bst or .csf files, due
to changes in Kpathsea. For Unix, the only known workaround is to use the
bibtex8 binaries from TeX Live 7.
For Windows, the best fix is to add the following lines to your texmf.cnf file:
BIBINPUTS.bibtex8 = .;$TEXMF/bibtex/{bib,}//
BSTINPUTS.bibtex8 = .;$TEXMF/bibtex/{bst,csf,}//
allow_multiple_suffixes = f
- TUGboat macros for plain TeX were omitted (files tugboat.cmn,
tugboat.sty, and tugproc.sty). They are available here,
install them in texmf/tex/plain/tugboat.
- frenchb.dtx version (1.6c 2003/09/15) was corrupted while
being transferred to CTAN. This produces strange bugs, for instance
$\nombre{1.3}$ leads to an error message about a missing $.
frenchb.dtx has now been corrected on CTAN (frenchb.dtx v1.6d
2003/10/05). To fix this, get
frenchb.dtx from CTAN and replace frenchb.ldf with the file created
by running latex frenchb.ins.
- source.tar.bz2 and the other actual sources
were omitted from the inst and demo distributions, due to an oversight.
It is in the live distribution, in the top-level source
directory on the DVD (it is not not installed anywhere).
Also available online,
it's about 19mb to download.
